Happy new year to you technology lovers!
I am certain that our love for technology hasn’t changed and I’m not expecting it to. Today I’m here to report on a topic that most of us are familiar with: Word processing! I’m hoping that you learn something or the very least this post will refresh your memory. In this lesson, the lecturer advised that we used any existing document on our devices to process. We looked at changing the background colour of page which can be found in Home by clicking on the bucket symbol. Here you have a wide variety of colours to choose from and you can even mix colours on your own. Then we explored word art which can be found in “Insert” represented by a slanted letter A in blue and bold. This feature allows for creative designs of letters /words. Under the same heading in Insert, by clicking on “clip Art”, you can find a number of pictures in their collection and internet access allows you to access more pictures which you can add to your document.
In
Page Layout,
we explored watermark, page borders and it is important to note that the
background colour or colour of your page can be done here as well. The three
features mentioned can be found under the sub heading “Page background”. It is wise
to add the water mark to your document last, so that it can be positioned
properly and is not a distraction from the content in your document. You can
choose from a number of available options or customize one. Watermarks have
been used on many documents to discourage counterfeiting.
Under
PAGE LAYOUT ,
you are presented with three (3) options: Borders, Page borders and shading.
You can put a border around the words in the document or the page itself. In
class we selected page border, then style to add a border around the page. I
selected one from the many available options. Borders add a finished, neat look
to your document. It enhances the presentation of your work but keen attention
must be made for to the choice of border chosen. The choice of border must match
the content. For example balloons are not appropriate borders for an
educational research paper etc.
What
I discovered from this lesson is the option for cover pages. I usually create
my cover page from scratch but there is an option for it under "Insert". Fascinating! Just click on cover page which is the first
item under “Insert”
represented
by a light blue paper icon. There are a variety of templates to
choose from. Next time you get an assignment, try one!
You
can also create tables under this section by clicking on the table icon. You
can insert as many rows and as many columns.
Yes it’s that easy
Additionally you can change the font style, colour and size from Home. You can equally U = underline , B= bold AND I =italize from this menu.
Finally we looked at the orientation of the document which can be accessed via:Page layout > orientation. The two available options are : landscape (HORIZONTAL) and portrait ( VERTICAL) .
